Aromatherapy For Aches And Pains

Aromatherapy can help soothe aches and pains by decreasing inflammation, acting as a natural anesthetic, as well as encourage the healing process. People can be affected by pain in many different ways and aromatherapy can alleviate a variety of different physical discomforts. Below, you will find how you can apply aromatherapy to help you live pain free.

Aromatherapy for Arthritis:

• Pine
• Eucalyptus
• Lavender
• Lemon

Application:

• Put 3 drop of pine, 3 drops of eucalyptus, 2 drops of lavender and 2 drops of lemon in a small bowl of hot water. The water must be hot but not too hot to avoid burning. Soak a cloth in the mixture to absorb the water and wrap around hands or affected area as a compress.
• Add 2 drops of each to a neutral cream and apply to affected area.

Aromatherapy for Bursitis:

• Eucalyptus
• Peppermint
• Geranium

Applications:

• Mix 2 drops of each in 1 teaspoon of olive oil and massage into affected area.

Aromatherapy for Earaches:

• Lavender
• Tea Tree

Application:

• Mix 3 drops of lavender and 3 drops of tea tree into 1 tablespoon of olive oil. This mixture is good for a few uses. Rub some of the mixture on the ear and going down the neck 2-4 times a day until the earache is gone. This can be used for children if the portions of essential oils are cut in half. No more than 3 essential oils for 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Aromatherapy for Joint Pain:

• Pine
• Eucalyptus
• Lavender
• Lemon

Application:

• Put 3 drop of pine, 3 drops of eucalyptus, 2 drops of lavender and 2 drops of lemon in a small bowl of hot water. The water must be hot but not too hot to avoid burning. Soak a cloth in the mixture to absorb the water and wrap around hands or affected area as a compress.
• Add 2 drops of each to a neutral cream and apply to affected area.

Aromatherapy for Muscle Pain:

• Ginger
• Lavender
• Marjoram

Application:

• Add 2 drops of each to jojoba oil and massage affected area.
• Add 2 drops each of lavender and marjoram and 1 drop of ginger to 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add this mixture to 1 cup of Epson salts and add to your bath water.

Aromatherapy for Headaches and Migraines:

• Peppermint
• Eucalyptus
• Grapefruit

Applications:

• Add 2 drops each of oil to a bit of neutral cream and give yourself neck massage concentrating at the base of the skull. Finish with a scalp massage.
• Add 2 drops of each to an essential oil to a burner.

Aromatherapy for Menstrual Pain:

• Estragon
• Mandarin
• Marjoram

Application:

• Mix 2 of each oil to 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil and massage the lower abdomen and back. Repeat 4 times a day until the pain is relieved.

Aromatherapy for Tennis Elbow:

• Pine
• Eucalyptus
• Lavender
• Lemon

Application:

• Put 3 drop of pine, 3 drops of eucalyptus, 2 drops of lavender and 2 drops of lemon in a small bowl of hot water. The water must be hot but not too hot to avoid burning. Soak a cloth in the mixture to absorb the water and wrap around hands or affected area as a compress.
• Add 2 drops of each to arnica cream and apply around the elbow and on the forearm.
